2022 Summer Media Staff

The enhanced OC Riptide fan experience is achievable only through the hard work and dedication from our internship staff. Covering numerous departments from Scoring / Analytics to Game Day Operations to Live Stream Broadcast to Sports Information to Social Media, the OC Riptide interns are the engine that make game days smooth and enjoyable for fans in the stands and those watching games online.

Social Media Team

Social media staff members are tasked with updating and maintaining all of the OC Riptide social media accounts including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

Katrina Anderson 2022 OC Riptide Intern

Katrina AndersonSocial Media & On-Field Master of Ceremonies

Katrina Anderson joined the Orange County Riptide 2022 Spring Marketing Staff as a sophomore at Southern Methodist University. She is a double major in Public Relations and Strategic Communications along with Applied Physiology and Sport Management. After completing he spring internship, Katrina chose to transition to the summer staff where she joined the social media team and also hosts the on-field activites.

Her family’s love of Notre Dame football is one of Katrina’s greatest influences; after traveling to watch the Fighting Irish play Navy in Ireland, Katrina knew she had to work in sports. At SMU Katrina is a member of the SMU Simmons School of Sport Management social media team which posts updates on events, alumni, faculty, and athletics.

Raised in Orange County, Katrina is well acquainted in the community and excited to work with the OC Riptide. She hopes to engage the community with the Riptide, letting families know about games, summer camps and more. Through this, she hopes to further develop her digital marketing and public relations skills in a professional setting. Katrina eventually hopes to pursue a career in public relations and crisis management within professional sports.

Richie Contreras 2022 OC Riptide Intern

Richie Contreras joins the Orange County Riptide 2022 Social Media staff as a senior at Arizona State University. He is majoring in Sports Business at the W.P Carey School of Business.

His family’s passion for sports is one of Richie’s greatest influences; after being a multi-sport athlete, Richie has the ambition to work in sports professionally. At ASU, Richie is a member of ASU’s 942 Crew which posts updates on events, alumni, faculty, and athletics.

Raised in Los Angeles County, Richie is well acquainted in the community and excited to work with the OC Riptide. He hopes to engage the community with the team, letting families know about games, summer camps and more. Through this, he hopes to further develop his marketing and public speaking skills in a professional setting.

Richie eventually hopes to pursue a career in Management and Broadcasting within professional sports.

Kellie Glenn 2022 OC Riptide Intern

Kellie Glenn joins the Orange County Riptide 2022 Social Media Marketing Staff as a senior at Arizona State University. She is majoring in Communications with a minor in Real Estate. On campus, she serves as Co-Director of New Member Outreach for her sorority, Alpha Phi. With this position, she has been able to promote sorority recruitment on social media through Instagram, TikTok, and many other platforms.

Kellie was born and raised in Orange County, California and has an older brother and younger sister. Throughout her life, she has had a love for dance, community service, campus involvement, and of course, social media. Glenn is very thankful for this opportunity to improve her Social Media Marketing knowledge and hopes to learn new techniques in the aspect of advertising, promotion and social media.

In her free time, Kellie loves to travel, spend quality time with friends and family, go to the beach, and go shopping.

Kellie is very excited to to join the OC Riptide for the summer of 2022.

Haley Paschal 2022 OC Riptide Intern

Haley Paschal – Social Media & On-Field Master of Ceremonies

Haley Paschal joins the Orange County Riptide 2022 Social Media staff as a sophomore at Arizona State University. She is majoring in Digital Marketing and Integrated Art at the WP Carey School of Business.

On Campus, Haley is a part of Pi Beta Phi sorority, where she helps organize and promote events, and helps run the social media platforms. In her freshman year, she was an intern for Sun Devil Athletics Program. This internship was “Game-Day Operations” where she assisted and organized key marketing components throughout the games.

Haley was born and raised in Huntington Beach, CA, and a place she still calls home. Living in Orange County her whole life, she has come to understand how important a close-knit community is for the city, and being able to get citizens involved is a key factor for a great community. Haley grew up in a family of athletes that helped her develop a love for sports at a very young age. She played soccer and volleyball all the way through high school and is still very active in a myriad of sports today. She believes that being a part of a team and connecting with people with the same determination, has encouraged her to strive for her goal in working in the sports field.

In her free time, she loves to go the beach and play beach volleyball. If she is not at the beach, she is hanging out with her family, friends, and dogs. Haley hopes to develop her marketing and social media skills on a professional level. Haley is eager to work with the Riptide team and share the love of the game with their fans.

Travis Ramsdell

Travis Ramsdell joins the OC Riptide 2022 staff as a recent graduate from California State University, Long Beach where he earned his Bachelor’s in Communication Studies as well as minoring in Public Relations. During his time at CSULB, Travis was a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and was also Vice President of the Student Communication Association, two organizations that helped him find his love for wanting to work within the communications industry. Furthermore, Travis was a social media intern during his final year at The Beach, running the Instagram and Twitter accounts for the Department of Communication Studies where he designed various social media campaigns that led to an increased audience size of 25%.

Travis is grateful and excited for this opportunity and is looking forward to being an effective member of the OC Riptide team. Having been born and raised in Orange County and playing various sports throughout his childhood, Travis’ knowledge of the area and the sports culture will allow him to be a valuable member of the team.

During his free time, Travis enjoys watching sports, working out at the gym, catching up on the next installment of the Marvel/Star Wars universe, and going to as many concerts/music festivals as he can.

Drew Rosenberg joins the Orange County Riptide 2022 Social Media staff as a Junior at Indiana University – Bloomington in pursuit of a Sports Media degree with a Broadcasting concentration. His goal is to work as an announcer doing play-by-play broadcasting along with working as a sportswriter.

His family’s love of sports has had a huge impact on him and from a young age he always knew he had to work in sports. As a Senior in high school, Drew was a play-by-play announcer for his school’s basketball games and continued to announce games at Indiana University including baseball games as a part of Big Ten Student U.

Raised outside of Boston, Massachusetts, Drew grew up a huge sports fan regularly attending sporting events as a child and still does to this day whenever he can. Many of his role models were the professional athletes he grew up watching.

Drew is excited to join the OC Riptide social media Team and is hoping to help grow the OC Riptide social media accounts and continue to help build a strong fan base consisting of all ages in the Orange County area.

Ireland Horvat joins the Orange County Riptide 2022 Sports Information staff as a senior at Arizona State University. She is majoring in Sports Journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism with an emphasis in broadcasting.

Ireland grew up watching sports since she was a toddler moving her small chair in front of the TV in order to watch any sports game that her father was watching. Baseball has always been her favorite sport to watch.

At ASU, Ireland is a part of Inferno Intel; a student run broadcast covering all ASU sports. She is also a part of the Association of Women in Sports which is a student run club at the Walter Cronkite school.

Raised in Newport Beach, Ireland has always been interested in sports especially while at Corona Del Mar High School where she started the TV broadcasting announcements with a few other students.

Ireland is excited to be a part of the OC Riptide staff and is grateful for the opportunity to broadcast and report on the many games this season. She is excited to see new talent and learn from the other staff members. Eventually Ireland hopes to become a sportscaster for a baseball team, preferably the Los Angeles Angels.

Mira Kaplan 2022 OC Riptide Intern

Mira KaplanSports Information

Mira Kaplan joins the Orange County Riptide 2022 Sports Information Staff as a Sophomore at the University of Chicago. Kaplan is currently undeclared, but developing an interest in philosophy, law, and biological sciences. She is a forward on the UChicago women’s rugby team, with experience playing both 15s (as a lock and prop) and 7s.

Kaplan currently works part-time as a freelance journalist and content manager for the online sports media brand Backseat Coach, covering the LA Dodgers.

Kaplan was born and raised in Los Angeles. As a child, she loved boxing and dreamed of being a writer. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, and watching any and all sports.

Marissa Lavezzari 2022 OC Riptide Intern

Marissa Lavezzari joins the Orange County Riptide 2022 Sports Information/Photography staff as a transferring junior at California State University, Fullerton. She is majoring in Communications with a concentration in Journalism. Prior to Cal State Fullerton, she spent two years studying at Golden West College and Orange Coast College, where she earned two Associates of Arts degrees in Communication Studies and Journalism.

Marissa spent this last season working for the GWC Athletic Department as the Sports Reporter for the Rustler Baseball and Softball teams. She also served as the President of the Golden West Baseball Club for two years, and was an active member of both student government and the Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society. At Orange Coast College, she served as a Reporter on the 2021 Coast Report Staff, covering sports, campus life, and local government issues.

For the OC Riptide, she hopes to bring her skills that she learned during her time spent on the Orange Coast newspaper staff and in the dugout with Golden West into her hybrid role as a Sports Information and Photography Intern

Marissa grew up in Orange County surrounded by a large Italian family who are all baseball enthusiasts. Her love of baseball was sparked at a young age after presenting her historical figure report on Jackie Robinson to her third grade class. She owes her interest in breaking into the sports industry as a sports journalist to Alanna Rizzo and all the women who are continuing to pave their way into this highly competitive field.

In her free time, Marissa loves to dance, bake, hang out with her friends and family, listen to music, and attend sporting events. She is currently on the hunt to visit all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums.

Jeff Salcedo 2022 OC Riptide Intern

Jeff Salcedo joins the Orange County Riptide 2022 sports information staff as a recent graduate of Brigham Young University. He graduated in communications with an emphasis in journalism

At BYU, Salcedo worked for BYU’s student newspaper “The Daily Universe” as a senior reporter. As a senior reporter, he provided coverage for a majority of BYU’s sports teams, including baseball.

Born and raised in Santa Ana, Salcedo is excited to return home and to provide coverage on the OC Riptide for their players and fans. He is excited to start his post-graduate career by writing
articles and distributing digital media for the Riptide. Salcedo hopes to become a beat writer covering a major sport in the future.

In his free time, Salcedo enjoys weight lifting, playing basketball, writing and watching sports.

Ari Wohl 2022 OC Riptide Intern

Ari WohlSports Information

Ari Wohl joins the OC Riptide 2022 Sports Information Department as a sophomore at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Wohl is majoring in Sports Journalism and is hoping to become an MLB broadcaster or TV host on networks like ESPN or MLB Network.

At Arizona State, he has had the opportunity to broadcast women’s hockey, basketball, and softball games. Additionally, he shot videos for track and field. Most recently, he started a baseball podcast, available on YouTube.

Wohl is a big baseball fan, the Yankees being his favorite team, and enjoys following the NHL, NBA, and NFL. Besides his love for sports, he was a member of the marching band at Capistrano Valley High School for four years and spent two years as a section leader. He continued his passion for music in college as a member of the Sun Devil Marching Band at ASU.

Wohl was born and raised in Orange County and is the youngest of two. He played Little League throughout his childhood and quickly realized his goal of making it to the majors was unlikely, causing him to take an interest in sports broadcasting and reporting. With the Riptide, he hopes to gain experience writing and interviewing. He also hopes to make connections with other college students with similar interests.

Sage Zipeto joins the Orange County Riptide 2022 Media Staff in the Photography department. Sage is a Senior studying Journalism at the University of Washington and is pursuing minors in Political Science and Global Health.

Sage was raised in both Seattle and Boston alongside her three older siblings. Sports, particularly baseball, were an avid part of her life growing up and she remains a conflicted fan of the Red Sox and the Mariners. Her love for sports and passion for photography led her to joining The Daily UW staff on campus, where she has been a staff photographer for the past two years.

Sage is thrilled to join the OC Riptide team and is looking forward to a summer of learning and sunshine. As an intern, she hopes to gain experience as a photographer and knowledge of the industry by working alongside other creative minds.

In her free time, Sage enjoys reading books (her favorite being Breakfast at Tiffany’s), drinking coffee, running and spending time outside.

Live-Stream Broadcast

The Orange County Riptide broadcasts all home games and select road games during the course of the 2022 season. The broadcast team is responsible for the digital presentation of the games complete with a Play-by-Play announcer, Color Analyst and Technical Director.

Colin Bock – Play-by-Play

A Lake Oswego, OR native, Bock currently attends Syracuse University majoring in Broadcast & Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Bock served as the play-by-play voice of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes within the Mavericks Independent Baseball League last summer.

Bock worked as the ‘Cuse Countdown Associate Producer while at Syracuse and founded “OES Stories”, a broadcasting club at his high school, Oregon Episcopal School. Bock’s hometown of Lake Oswego, OR, is a suburb of Portland in Clackamas County. Although Portland does not have a Major League Baseball team. Bock hopes his experience broadcasting baseball games can propel him to become the eventual Portland MLB team’s announcer.

Joshua Finehirsh

Joshua Finehirsh – Technical Director

Joshua Finehirsh joins the 2022 OC Riptide Staff as a rising Junior at Chapman University, Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, pursuing a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Documentary with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism.

As a student at Chapman, Joshua has produced many video projects and is a member of the Chapman Sports Broadcasting Network. Josh’s passion for sports broadcasting drives him to get the most out of this internship.

Born in Orange County and raised in Newport Beach, Josh has always watched and played sports as well as attended many live sports events. Josh is an avid Dodgers, Lakers, and Rams fan. Josh’s role model has always been Kobe Bryant due to Kobe’s unmatched work ethic.

In his free time, Josh loves playing basketball and tennis, hanging out with friends and family, and watching TV, movies and sports.

Jeffery Nelson

Jeffrey Nelson – Color Analyst

Jeffrey Nelson joins the Orange County Riptide as the Color Commentator for the 2022 season.  Nelson is a fourth year student at Butler University studying Sports Media with a minor in Sports Production.

His love for the game of baseball started at a young age and continues as an adult having spent his childhood listening to Yankees games on the radio and traveling to all 30 Major League Baseball ballparks before graduating high school in 2019.  At Butler, Nelson is a part of Butler+, a team started by one of his professors who hires students to produce and call games aired on Flo Sports.

Nelson, raised in Maplewood, New Jersey, is completely new to Orange County, but looks to learn about the area all while improving his broadcast skills with the hopes of being on a name brand TV network within the next five years.  Some of his goals while broadcasting is to bring excitement and energy to the game through the screen to make the people at home feel as though they are there. Jeffrey wants to teach fans as much as he knows about the game as a way to keep fans engaged.

Jake Hamlin joins the Orange County Riptide Game day Production Staff as an upcoming Senior at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). He is majoring in Business Economics and plans on attending graduate school to earn his MBA. Jake will fulfill the Live Game Producer role for the Riptide this summer.

Having played baseball his entire life leading up to college, he has a long-lasting passion for the sport and aspires to work in the professional baseball industry one day. Previously, Jake served as the President of Baseball Operations for California Strong Summer League. He currently holds a position as a content creator for the UC Irvine Baseball Team as well as a Sports Marketing & Graphic Design Intern position with August Icon Marketing.

Jake was raised in Valdosta, GA before moving to Bakersfield, CA. He currently resides in Irvine, CA while attending school full time. In his free time, Jake loves to go to the beach, travel, play video games, wake-board when possible, go to the gym, golf, and more. His favorite sports team is the Atlanta Braves.

During his time with the Riptide, he hopes to use his wide-ranged knowledge of baseball media and game production to effectively manage the press box staff. He is looking forward to working alongside some of the finest upcoming collegiate students in the sports industry, learning from one another to sharpen each other’s skills, and creating a top-notch experience for visitors and fans at Riptide games!

Max Lawrence joins the Orange County Riptide as the 2022 Public Address Announcer. A graduate of Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, Calif. Lawrence also played guard for the Vanguard basketball team.

Lawrence enjoys sports and hopes to utilize this opportunity to announce OC riptide games as a springboard into a profession within the sports entertainment industry.
