Omaha the Bat Dog

Omaha the Bat Dog is no ordinary Golden Retriever. Retrieving comes naturally. It’s in her DNA. Retrieving baseball bats? That took lots of training.

Born on November 15, 2022 and adopted on January 13, 2023, Omaha’s parents had aspirations to train her into a bat dog. Since her debut on June 9, 2024, Omaha the Bat Dog has become a beloved figure at Orange County Riptide games.

Omaha loves the spotlight. During her first few bat retrieval attempts, she milks the crowd and takes a circuitous route back to the dugout with a wood baseball bat in her mouth. Omaha loves the crowd applause and makes sure everyone in the stadium knows she is not your run of the mill bat girl.

Omaha’s presence not only enhances the Riptide game-day experience but also brings joy to fans of all ages.

At the end of the 2024 summer ball season, some fans even remarked they come back to the games, “just to see the dog.”
