IRVINE, Calif. – The Riptide fell short in their game against the Conejo Oaks on Sunday night. Despite taking an early lead in the first inning, the Riptide could not maintain their advantage.

The Oaks tied the game in the third inning, capitalizing on an RBI double from Caranto and a defensive error. The Oaks then added runs in the fourth and sixth innings.
Both teams’ offenses remained quiet for the rest of the game, resulting in a final score of 4-2 in favor of the Oaks. Strong defensive play and effective pitching enabled the Oaks to limit the Riptide’s scoring opportunities.
The Riptide utilized multiple pitchers from their bullpen, including Seth Spencer, Jack Bunnell, Sam Hasegawa, Koehn Thomas, and Ryan Kittredge, but they were unable to contain the Oaks’ offense.
“We are a team that typically does not make mistakes,” said coach Matt Smith. “We made a few tonight, a few more than they [the Oaks] did, and that turned out to be the difference in the game.”
The Riptide will aim for a victory on Tuesday against the San Diego SunRays and look to finish the game against the SunRays that was interrupted by sprinklers.
