The Orange County Riptide is a wood bat, summer collegiate baseball organization that competes yearly from June to early August. Established in 2015, The OC Riptide provides the Orange County community with a family-friendly and affordable sports entertainment option during the summer months.

Top level college baseball players play in Orange County every year, giving residents unequaled access today to the future stars of professional baseball. Notable OC Riptide Alumni in Pro Baseball that have advanced all the way to Major League Baseball include Caleb Killian (Cubs), Dominic Fletcher (Diamondbacks) Trey Lipscomb (Nationals), Hunter Bigge (Cubs) and Eric Wagaman (Angels).

Competing in the California Collegiate League (CCL), the Orange County Riptide won the CCL Championship in 2017. The OC Riptide has appeared in the CCL Playoffs seven out of the last eight seasons.

The OC Riptide is mainly comprised of Division I players with a small mix of Division II and top-notch Division III, NAIA and Junior College players. Players from outside of the Orange County area come to California and stay with host families for the summer while they pursue their dream of potentially playing professional baseball one day.



2017 CCL Champs

4 of the 5 Riptide to make it to "the Show" played for the 2017 Riptide

The 2017 Riptide season, played at Concordia University, saw numerous alumni go on to have great collegiate and professional careers.

This 2017 “Dream Team” won the organization’s first championship since joining the league the year prior and tallied a record of 33 wins and 11 loses. Of the few losses in 2017, the Riptide never lost by more than three runs in any of those games.

Of the five OC Riptide alumni to advance all the way to play Major League Baseball, four of them played in 2017 for the Riptide. Those four are: Caleb Killian, Dominic Fletcher, Hunter Bigge and Eric Wagaman.

Notable players who not only had a major impact on the 2017 championship-winning team, but also received 2017 California Collegiate League All-Tournament Team honors include: Arkansas outfielder Dominic Fletcher, Oregon State shortstop Beau Philip, St. Edwards pitcher Juan Cortina, Hawai’i third baseman Logan Pouelsen, Texas pitcher Parker Joe Robinson and Texas outfielder Tate Shaw.
